Raising funds is a constant challenge for non-profits. There’s a lot of waiting and asking, organising and hoping. But one organisation has taken matters into their own paws and made a great Christmas present for dog-lovers. Iowa-based nonprofit Lucky Bulldogs Rescue has created a 2020 calendar called ‘Dad Bods & Rescue Dogs’.
Every month for the year 2020 features dogs from the rescue, as well as brave (and scantily clad) volunteers.
All proceeds from the calendar will go to the charity to helping remove short-nosed breeds in need, including English bulldogs, French bulldogs, pugs and Boston terriers, from the commercial breeding system and rehabilitate and adopt into a new, loving home.
The rescue organisation has already raised several thousand dollars as word spreads online. The calendar quickly received international attention, and even got a spot on local TV news.
Lyndsey Wright, a volunteer and board member at the shelter – and a photographer – had the idea of shooting the calendar and finding volunteer models. She put a call-out on Facebook, and the rest is history.
If you want to treat a loved one this year to the hottest calendar in town, you can order it here (from $20), and there are international shipping options.
There’s also a desk calendar ($18) for those brave enough to take their calendar to work.
Fancy winning a copy? Course you do! Head to our Facebook page by the end of 16 December and post a picture of your rescued bulldog (dad/mum pose optional).
